Code of Conduct at Glaslough Villa FC

At Glaslough Villa FC, we believe that every member of our community—players, coaches, parents, and supporters—plays a vital role in upholding the values of respect, sportsmanship, and teamwork. To create a positive and inclusive environment, we have established a Code of Conduct that everyone involved with the club is expected to follow.

For Players

Respect for Others:
Treat your teammates, coaches, opponents, and referees with respect at all times. Avoid offensive language or gestures.
Fair Play: Compete to the best of your ability while adhering to the rules of the game. Never engage in unsporting behaviour, including cheating or simulation.
Commitment: Attend training sessions, matches, and club events regularly, and give 100% effort. Inform your coach in advance if you are unable to attend.
Health and Safety: Take responsibility for your own safety and that of your teammates. Follow safety guidelines, wear appropriate gear, and report injuries immediately.
Discipline: Accept decisions made by referees and officials without argument. Disciplinary actions, including warnings or suspensions, may follow if conduct expectations are not met.

For Spectators

Sportsmanship: Support the team by cheering in a positive and respectful manner. Show respect to players, officials, and fellow spectators.
No Disruption: Refrain from using foul or abusive language. Do not interrupt the flow of the game by entering the pitch or disputing decisions with match officials.
Respect Opponents: Treat opposing players, coaches, and fans with the same respect you would show to your own team. Remember, the game is about enjoyment for all.

For Parents and Guardians

Positive Support: Encourage and support your child without placing unnecessary pressure on them. Celebrate their efforts, regardless of the outcome of the match.
Respect for Coaches and Officials: Trust the coaching staff to make decisions in the best interest of the team. Avoid questioning referees’ decisions or undermining their authority during games.
Sideline Behaviour: Cheer positively and refrain from any abusive or aggressive language directed at players, officials, or other spectators. Negative sideline behaviour will not be tolerated.

Safety and Welfare: Ensure that your child arrives at matches and training sessions on time, equipped with the appropriate gear. Report any injuries or welfare concerns to coaches immediately.

Consequences for Breaching the Code of Conduct

Verbal or Written Warnings: For minor breaches, a warning may be issued by a club official.
Suspension: Serious or repeated misconduct could result in a temporary suspension from matches, training, or club events.
Expulsion: In extreme cases, persistent breaches may lead to permanent expulsion from the club.

Reporting Misconduct

Any member of the club who witnesses a breach of this Code of Conduct can report it to a committee member or the Designated Safeguarding Officer. All reports will be handled confidentially and in accordance with the club’s disciplinary procedures.

By adhering to this Code of Conduct, we ensure that Glaslough Villa FC continues to be a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.

Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining the values and spirit of our club.
